Facilities & Areas

The determination of the facilities to be included in the New Lions Gate proposal, and the computation of their respective areas, is, at this stage, an approximation, and a great degree of flexibility still remains. Furthermore, in assigning areas to various uses it must be understood that the relative proportions are illustrative, the actual design of the proposal will permit various combinations of uses in response to market conditions, and will in addition permit change of use over time in order to reflect changing circumstances. Nonetheless, the figures here give a good indication of the propsed scale and character of the development.

As can be seen from the overall totals shown at the left, the New Lions Gate is indeed a reasonably large-scale undertaking. However, for the sake of comparison, we have included figures for several other current or planned developments within the GVRD. These are:

From this we can see that the New Lions Gate proposal falls within the range of existing or seriously contemplated projects, although market conditions will obviously govern phasing (q.v.) and the pace of implementaion.

More detailed breakdowns for each project component follow...
